SLO Veg Recipe Contest Guidelines

Summer 2021

Hello to all you cooking and baking connoisseurs! The team at SLO Veg has a very important announcement that demands all whisks, aprons, and grill baskets on deck! We’re always so excited to see what you’re cookin’ up with your SLO Veg produce that we want to get in on the action. We thought it would be fun to kick off the summer with our first ever recipe competition to showcase the culinary wisdom of our devoted subscribers. We plan to hold these competitions quarterly to coincide with each season.

Interested? Here’s the Low Down: 

For this first competition, we’re interested in seeing your recipes for: 

Category 1: Best Grilling Recipe

Category 2: Best Stone Fruit Recipe

Category 3: Best Summer Salad Recipe (sweet, savory, grain, greens, etc.)  

How-To Submit

Submissions open Monday, June 14 and you’ll be given two weeks to send in your submissions with a deadline of Friday, June 25. You may submit unlimited recipes in all categories so long as they incorporate produce items from your Fruit and/or Harvest boxes. Recipes featuring products from our marketplace are also welcome! You must submit your recipes to rachel.schumm@sloveg.com with the subject line “Submission: Recipe Contest Summer 2021”. Be sure to submit the: Recipe title, total servings, approximate cooking time, full list of ingredients with quantities, and the full list of instructions. If you have a photo to submit- even better!

The Community Rating Process

After the deadline, keep an eye out for a special email featuring all approved recipe submissions from you and your community! At that time, we will invite our SLO Veg community to test out these recipes and rate their favorites over a two-week period. Once the community rating closes on Friday, July 9, our will select the top three rated recipes from each category. 

Finalists Process

If your recipe is one of the final three that we select, congrats! The SLO Veg team will personally cook the finalist recipes from each category and review them to determine our winner. We’ll announce the finalists from each category via our Instagram and weekly newsletter as well as featuring your recipe on our website! Each winner, runner up, and third place contestant will receive a gift as well for their efforts and fine cooking skills.

Remember that this quarterly competition is optional and solely for the purpose of connecting our customers and our team! We encourage you to be creative and have fun!
