Hello SLO Veg Family,

As we welcome a beautiful weekend here on the Central Coast, I’m feeling especially grateful for this community and the incredible farmers who continue to grow for us through the winter season. 💚 Be sure to take a peek at our marketplace — we’ve added some delectable new items you won’t want to miss.

We’re excited to share a small-batch offering this week from Heritage Farm SLO: organic green kohlrabi and organic green cauliflower. Quantities are limited, and they’re featured in our larger boxes, with extra available in the marketplace while they last. Such a treat to have these unique winter gems!

We’re also so happy to welcome back Javier Martinon’s newest crops, including fresh cauliflower and broccoli. He has a beautiful lineup growing that we’ll begin enjoying in the coming weeks — red and green leaf lettuces, romaine, red and white onions, fresh garlic, colorful cauliflower, red and green cabbage, leeks, Brussels sprouts, and so much more. It’s always exciting to watch the fields transition.

Right now, several farmers are in a natural seasonal gap. With cooler temps and shorter days, crops simply take longer to mature. That slower pace is part of winter farming, and before we know it, those vibrant spring harvests will be rolling in. We can hardly wait to share them with you.

Thank you for sticking with us through the winter crops — we’re so grateful. I hope you’re trying new recipes and enjoying the nourishing bounty from our partnered farms. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we’re adding delicious new baked goods to the market, and we’re out visiting farmers markets to connect with more farmers and artisans. We love discovering growers who are willing to plant interesting, “outside-the-box” items we can introduce to you — things you may never have thought to try.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with good food and good company. We look forward to seeing you next week!

Warmly, Rachael
