Happy New Year!  May we all reap the rewards of this new year together. I’m truly grateful to have to have the opportunity to share the freshest ingredients for feeding your souls and bringing you the best of the best from our partnered farmers right to you to enjoy in your kitchens and on your plates.  I absolutely love being the liaison between the farmer and you. 

As we step into the first week of the new year, I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes with you from the fields. We’ve had a generous stretch of rain here on the Central Coast, which is always something to be grateful for—it replenishes our soils, nourishes roots, and sets the stage for healthy crops ahead. At the same time, all this rain makes it challenging for our farmers to work safely and effectively in their fields.

When fields are wet, harvesting becomes tricky. Soil can compact underfoot or machinery, delicate roots can bruise, and leafy greens are more susceptible to damage and shorter shelf life when picked too wet. For many crops, farmers have to wait for the ground to dry just enough to protect both the plants and the long-term health of their land. This can make confirming harvest items a bit unpredictable week to week, but it’s all part of caring for the soil and the food it gives us.

Through it all, our farmers are doing their absolute best to bring forward beautiful, nourishing harvests, and we’re working closely with them to curate a thoughtful offering that reflects the season and these conditions. Our hope is to bring you food that feeds not just your tables, but your souls—simple, fresh, and grounding as we begin a new year together.
