Farm Fresh Bounties For You
Nov 14-17, 2023

Happy Monday – Please be sure to read our updates for this week & next below!
Hey there SLO Veg Friends! Our farmers are preparing a number of items to include: fresh carrots, herbs, celery, yams, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussels, apples, pears, pomegranate and much more.  We’re finalizing our selections early this week to incorporate as many holiday items as we can, to offer in each box size.  We’ll share our selections this Friday on our website and social media platforms!

We’re consolidating Thanksgiving week deliveries to offer Monday thru Wednesday all boxes shared with you, so you’re all set to prepare your bountiful holiday meals while enjoying your friends and families. We will close Thursday and Friday to celebrate with our families.

If you’re going out of town and know you will not need a box, please log in to your account and place your hold by Thursday 11/16/23.  With our consolidated Thanksgiving delivery schedule we’ll be ordering Friday morning to get us ready to rock & roll Monday morning.  Should you miss our hold cut off, we’re happy to donate your box to a family in need. You’re more than welcome to gift a box to a friend or loved one.  Shoot us an email! service@sloveg.com

If you are on hold the week of November 20th, a will call subscriber, a subscriber that is on a bi-weekly schedule, not scheduled Thanksgiving week, log in to your account to add, or shoot us an email.  We’d love to add on any size box(es) for you.  Receiving a smaller box size and you’d like a bigger box, no problem, we can accommodate that too. Nothing tastes better than farm fresh harvests, we would love to be your #1 resource for all your dinner needs. We will offer all fruit/veg mixed boxes and fruit boxes. Get ahead of the game shop our artisan marketplace to receive all your holiday items next week.

Always Prep Your Fruits & Veggies:
Increase the “Shelf Life” of items you receive!

We highly recommend these great tips for preparing & storing your produce so it lasts up to two weeks or more!  Rinse all of your delicate items, store in containers or baggies in your crisper.  There are very few items that do not require prepping ahead of time. Fruit is okay to store on countertop 2-3 days, otherwise refrigerate.

3 WAYS HOW TO ROAST YOUR PEPPERS

ROAST PEPPER ON A GAS STOVETOP (BEST FOR 1 TO 2 PEPPERS)

Turn a burner to the highest setting and set your pepper directly on the flame.
Use a pair of tongs to turn the pepper occasionally until the skin is completely blackened, about 8 minutes.

ROAST PEPPERS ON THE GRILL (BEST FOR 4 TO 6 PEPPERS)

Heat a gas grill to high or prepare a charcoal grill for direct heat. Place the peppers directly over the heat.

Turn the peppers every 2 to 3 minutes until they are completely charred, about 10 minutes total.

ROAST PEPPERS UNDER THE BROILER (GOOD FOR 4 TO 8 PEPPERS)

Position an oven rack as close as you can to the broiling element in your oven, and turn the broiler on to high.

Place your peppers on a baking sheet and place it directly under the broiler.

Use a pair of tongs to turn the peppers occasionally until the skin is completely blackened, about 8 minutes total.

HOW TO PEEL ROASTED PEPPERS

Put the still-warm pepper(s) in a heatproof bowl and cover either with plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or a pot lid.

The skin will loosen as the pepper steams, and once it’s cooled down a bit, you can easily remove the skin with your fingers.

RECIPE NOTES

Storage: The roasted peppers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
