Each week we will post exactly what will be in the harvest box. All four boxes will have the same items just varying amounts. Depending on your family size and the frequency in which you and yours eats vegetables should determine which box size suits you best. We encourage your feedback / input into our Operations. Message from Wind Dance Farms.... Each year we produce fresh, organic extra virgin olive oil. We hand pick our four different olive varieties on our property and mill each separately to produce different oils, each with a unique flavor. Most years, we combine local organic Meyer lemons to some of our olives during the milling process to make our very popular Meyer Lemon Olive Oil. We carefully hand pick and mill the olives within hours of harvest to ensure the highest quality and freshness.

Hello SLO Veg Friends....We're excited to share a new item in our harvest box this week! Popcorn Shoot Microgreens from Gracious Greens. Popcorn shoots are fresh shoots grown from popcorn kernels. Theyre grown in lightless conditions to prevent photosynthesis, which leaves them with a bright yellow color and a mellow, sweet-sour flavor. Microgreens are baby plants with leaves and stems, grown upright in soil or a growing medium and harvested by cutting from their roots. We recommend topping them on your salads, steak, and fish. Get creative!

Hello Fall ~ We love the change in the season! After this past week's scorching temps we're so grateful for the cooler weather!

Last week I received an email in regard to a couple of items not holding up. Fruits and veggies paired with "HOT" weather not a great combo! This got me thinking... How are you all storing your fruits and veggies? I recommend rinsing and storing your items in air tight Ziploc or plastic bags in your crisper. Please view our website "Storage Tips" page! Every tip is great for extending the shelf life for all your fruits and veggies we deliver.

SLO VEG NEWS:
We're happy to offer an Asian inspired harvest box this week. This is our first time having eggplant and lemon grass for the season.

Osiah Galve with Osiah Farms supplied us with his harvests. If you've not met him before at farmers market, you're in for a real treat. You can find him Saturday morning's in SLO in front of World Market, and in the afternoon in Arroyo Grande Village weekly.

We love stopping by his booth. We never leave his table empty handed or without an awesome simple recipe! His Asian greens are fantastic. My favorite is his Brocclini. Quick saute with olive olive top with a little lemon, soy sauce, salt and pepper and there you have it....delish!

We're delivering next Monday, Labor Day, September 5. If you're not going to be home, please get your holds in quickly. We're happy to deliver to you on Tuesday if you prefer. We look forward to hearing from you.

Rachael's Southwestern Coleslaw (Red/Green Cabbage/Onions) Ingredients: 1 head green cabbage chopped 1 head red cabbage chopped 4 oz. shredded carrots 1 11 oz. can mexicorn 1/2 cup red onion dices 3/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped 4 oz. grated sharp cheddar cheese 2-3 fresh serrano peppers, diced 1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch dressing Directions: Blend all ingredients into a large bowl. Prepare 1 Pkg of ranch dressing. You will need only 1/2 of prepared dressing for this recipe. Set aside 1 cup dressing add in 1 tsp. ground cumin. Stir into salad blend. Refrigerate 2-3 hours so that salad will marinade itself. Extremely yummy with a kick of spice. Enjoy!

THIS WEEK'S RECIPES (http://www.sloveg.com/recipes.cfm):
Stuffed Pasilla Peppers: Ingredients: 6 Pasilla Peppers 1 Large onion diced 2 Celery stalks diced 2 Jalapeno Peppers diced 1/2 lb. bay shrimp Feta or Goat cheese 1 tsp. olive oil Directions: Warm grill to Medium heat. Slice tops off pasillas just below stem, leaving a slight lip. Core and remove seeds. Place on grill and cook, turning occasionally, until soft and slightly blistered (about 10 Minutes). In a medium saute' pan, heat oil. Saute' onions, celery, jalapenos till onion is slightly translucent and celery and jalapenos are soft. Add shrimp and toss until warm. Remove pasillas from grill and stuff with 1-2 Tbsp. feta or goat cheese. Spoon in sauteed veggies and shrimp. Place peppers back on grill and grill until cheese has slightly melted- DO NOT TURN. Remove peppers and place on serving plates and spoon remaining veggies and shrimp on top. Sprinkle with cheese and serve immediately.

Please send us an email, we'd love to get you started. Small: (1) 8 oz. fillet $8.25, Large: (2) 8 oz. fillet's $16.50. The price of your fish will be included with your harvest box delivery. We receive fish twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. Please set out your own cooler with frozen gel pack and we'll place your fish in it at the time we deliver. Happy Monday Friends and Families! We're proud to announce that our new Mail .email platform is in it's final stage for completion. This week we'll be adding the final touches to it and will begin sharing it next Monday. We're excited for the fresh new look and branding were heading toward.

We're including a new flier in our harvest box this week from, The Larder Meat Company. They are similar to a CSA and serve SLO and Santa Barbara counties. Their service offers a curated box filled with local meat ( chicken, dry aged angus beef, and mangalista pork). You can have a delivery to your door once a month.
